Create Rule
Rule-based optimization is a highly effective tool that can be tailored to suit your specific objectives, no matter how simple or complex they may be. To help you get started, please refer to the instructions below for guidance on configuring and managing your rules.
To access this feature, please navigate to Tools > Rules under your Affiliate dashboard, or directly through this link: https://app.sourceknowledge.com/agency/rules/
On the centralized screen, you can view all created rules.
To get started, click on the "New Rule" button located on the top right corner of the screen.
Then a screen will be shown up for you to fill in the following options:
Actions
Select a course of action that you want to automate using this rule. We currently support the following actions (more to come):
Actions | Description | Note |
---|---|---|
Apply bid factor | Apply bid factor for qualified SubIds |
|
Block SubId | Pause qualified SubIds on associated campaign |
|
Add SubId to Allow list | Add qualified SubIds to an Allow list. | The Allow list is still need to be associated to |
Add SubId to Block list | Add qualified SubIds to a Block list |
|
Conditions
In the next section, you need to set the conditions for the rule. You can add single or multiple conditions for every rule. For rules with more than one condition, ALL conditions need to be met for the rule to kick in.
We support the below main metrics as of now:
Metrics | Evaluation | Value |
---|---|---|
Spend | greater than, equal to, less than | $ |
Conversion Rate | greater than, equal to, less than | % |
Timeframe
The timeframe defines the date range, today included, for the rule to look at. By default, it is set to the last 7 days. You can select from the following options:
Last 1 day
Last 2 days
Last 3 days
Last 7 days
Last 14 days
Last 30 days
Associate Campaigns
In the final step, select the campaign(s) you want the rule to run on.
If a campaign has an active rule associated, you will find the Rule Enabled tag for that campaign in the Campaign Summary page:
Please note that rules can only take effect if the campaigns have post-back conversion data set up. For further information, please visit our Wiki page.
Sample Rules/Scenarios
Scenario A
As an example, to create a rule that will automatically increase the bid factor to x1.5 for all SubIDs that have spent more than $50 and have a conversion rate greater than 1% within the Last 7 days for Campaign A, the configuration should look like this:
Scenario B
To create a rule that automatically adds all SubIDs into a pre-created Allow list, that have spent more than $50, and have a conversion rate higher than 1% within the Last 7 days for Campaign B, the configuration should look like this:
Scenario C
Discover new SubIDs with ease by creating a discovery campaign that uses the Add SubId To Block List rule.
For example, you can add all the allowed channels in your campaign settings and create an Add SubId To Block List rule for all SubIDs that have spent more than $50, and have a conversion rate lower than 1% within the Last 14 days. The rule configuration should look like this:
Manage Rules
Under the centralized screen, you would find a list of all created rules. You then will have options to:
Edit a selected rule
Set a specific rule as active or pause. Pausing a rule won’t detach it from the associated campaign(s). That rule will just simply not be executed
Restrictions and Notes
Only SubIDs that are associated/allowed to run on a Campaign will be considered.
If a campaign is running on an Allow list, only SubIDs that are in the allow list will be considered.
If a campaign is running on a Block list, only SubIDs that are NOT in the block list will be considered.
One Rule can be used for multiple campaigns, but one campaign can only run on one rule.
Important - Please be aware that campaigns running with "Apply Bid Factor" and/or "Block SubID" rules may overwrite manually edited bid factors.
Due to possible delays in data collector, the last three hours of data will be excluded. This rule will be run once a day at 2AM EST
